FOR ASO, GROWTH, AND PRODUCT CONSULTANTS
A Client-Ready App Review Research Workflow
Use public reviews to prepare a discovery conversation, not to replace it. This workflow helps a team show what repeats across competitors, what still needs validation, and what should not become a recommendation yet.
What belongs in an evidence brief
A useful brief keeps the original review wording beside the interpretation. That lets a client inspect the pattern instead of accepting a generated feature list on trust.
Comparable failures
Group only reviews where the customer job, breakdown, and consequence are materially the same.
Cross-competitor recurrence
Mark whether the same failure appears in close alternatives, rather than counting one app's loudest complaints.
Counter-hypothesis
State what else could explain the pattern before suggesting a feature, positioning change, or experiment.
Interview prompts
Ask about frequency, current workarounds, cost, and willingness to change before treating a review cluster as demand.
Build a first evidence brief from one competitor
Paste a public App Store or Google Play URL. Review2Idea groups recurring complaints and preserves the source evidence beside each pattern. Your first report is free and needs no card.
No need to find the store link manually. Search by app name, or paste an App Store / Google Play link.
For a useful first report, choose an established competitor with enough recent 1–3 star reviews. Very new apps or apps with few low-rating reviews may not produce a report.
Use the open agency workflow template
The template gives a consultant a simple place to capture excerpts, evidence strength, interview assumptions, and the next client decision.

They do not prove willingness to pay, a market size, or a winning roadmap. Pair an evidence brief with direct customer conversations before making a positioning, pricing, or build decision.
