Great idea, terrible on my older phone

I used to love Strava, but on my iPhone 8 it has become painfully slow. Opening the app takes forever, maps lag, and it has crashed twice right after finishing a run. Nothing is more frustrating than losing a workout after 45 minutes outside.

Crashes during rides

On my older Android phone, Strava freezes constantly while recording bike rides. Sometimes the timer keeps going but the screen is stuck, and other times the app just closes completely. I do not trust it anymore for longer rides because the data is hit or miss.

Slow, laggy, and unreliable

The app has become bloated. My phone is not brand new, but every other fitness app runs fine. Strava stutters when switching tabs, takes ages to load my feed, and sometimes hangs on the save activity screen. It feels like performance on older devices is an afterthought.

Kills my battery in the background

Even when I am not recording an activity, Strava seems to drain my battery like crazy. I checked my battery usage and it was near the top after just sitting in the background all day. I like the tracking, but I should not have to force close it constantly.

Battery drops way too fast

I started a one hour walk with 78 percent battery and finished with 31 percent. No music, screen mostly off, just Strava tracking in the background. That seems ridiculous for a fitness app. The tracking is decent, but the battery drain makes it unusable for longer activities.

Background usage is out of control

Strava keeps using battery long after I finish an activity. I saved my ride, closed the screen, and hours later Android still showed Strava active in the background. I should not need to restart my phone to stop a workout app from draining power.

Why is everything so hard to find now?

The app keeps moving things around and the navigation feels way too cluttered. I spent several minutes trying to find my saved routes and gear settings. Strava has powerful features, but the interface makes basic tasks feel like digging through a junk drawer.

The design is getting worse

I can track runs fine, but finding anything beyond the record button is confusing. Segments, routes, challenges, privacy controls, and stats all feel scattered across different menus. I keep tapping around hoping I am in the right place. The app needs a simpler layout.
